Art Print set Usable Past 1
Description
These artworks were a part of a Federal Art Project in the US from 1935 until 1942 documenting pre 1900 crafts and decorative arts. Artists working for the Index produced a collection of 18,257 watercolor drawings of American decorative and folk arts objects, now held by the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC
This project aimed to help artists by creating paid work for them
This collection was seen more as documentation than personal expression but each piece shows the beauty inherent in each usable piece of the past.
